People around the world know Siem Reap province of Cambodia because of the 7th world wonder Angkor Wat and other temples. But if you take a longer trip to cambodia I think you should visit a province called Battambang("the loosen rosewood stick"). Just like siem reap it's about historical province too. This province also has some ancient Khmer temples and old building left from french colonialism. Half of rice in cambodia has been grown in this province too. This time I Just want to tell you a legend story of this province. I will give you more about places to visit in Battambang later. The name of This Province based on a legendary story.

Long time ago during the royal of King Tambang Kronhoung, there was a disabled men called Prum Kel because he only move by creeping. After heard a news that was an angel will have a new life at Angkor Wat. Prum Kel travelled to Angkor Wat by creeping even though he can't make it to Angkor Wat. During his napping at the forest, an old man shown up and asked Prum Kel to look after his horse for a while. Prum Kel accept this and the old man had gone into the forest. The Horse started walking around Prum Kel then pull his arm. Prum Kel's arm got recovered after the horse pulled. He realized that let the horse pull his arm could recover him for disability so he let the horse pull another arm and his legs. He found two bags with the horse, one bag contained a wonder full clothes and another bag contained food. After changing his clothes and eat the food he climbed up the horse and the horse immediately fly into the sky.  he rode the magic horse to see the Angkor Wat and Angkor Thom. After Seeing Prum Kel, The King Tamban Kronhoung got extremely angry and used his Rosewood Stick to attack Prum Kel but Pruk Kel he take down the Stick by his sword. He went to the ground then the war of word had began. After a long argument Prum Kel decided to leave but the king threw his Rosewood Stick again to Prum Kel but it was missed then the stick was loosen even the king sent many troops of his army to find it. People cheering with Prum Kel because of his wonder and power. The King Tambang Kronhoung crowned Prum Kel as king then start a new life near a stream where his rosewood stick was loosen and it named that place Battambang until today.

The Beautiful Scenery of Jelly Flower Field

On a beautiful cloudy day me and my friend went to visit a recently found field far away from the city of Siem Reap Called Jelly Flowers Field or Mount Ompel. It is a wonderful place to visit because of the combination of views of The Jelly Flowers, The  Green Grass and The Stones. The fresh air might stop you there for days. Now let me tell you about my experience.

(Jelly Flowers Field)

By departure from Siem Reap City at 9:30am we arrived Peak Sneng District at 10:00am then we take 30 minutes to find a Hand Tractor(Koryun). The hand tractor cost us 25$ or 100,000 Riels to get to the field and come back. we chose to take hand tractor because our motorbike can not get to the field. There was a lot of mud on the way to the field and also it just has a big rain the night before.

(The Hand Tractor)

My skin got darker because of the heat from the sun even though it was a cloudy day. When we almost get to the field we decided to stop for lunch that we packed from home(no one sales foods there) when we finish our lunch and well cleaned and prepared the rain started falling so we got to the rest house near by the field to get our self sheltered.

(The Road to the Field)

After the rain was gone we were pointed by local people to get to the right place. OMG!!!!!!!!!! that was amazing. The views of Jelly Flowers, Grass and Stones covered by the fresh air and the smell of nature make me stuck over there. After that we started taking photos. almost 250 photos I had been shooting on that  day. It was a cloudy day so it was a great day too for taking photos. We Decide to leave the field at 3:30pm because some of our friends were busy at the evening then we got back to Peak Sneng at 5:30pm.

(The Field)

It was a wonderful trip, I really will go there again even though some of my friends won't. The flower grow for few month only and it should be from August to October so don't miss the time.

Understanding Exposure

If you really want to master your photography you have to learn about exposure. When you understanding exposure you will easily understand how cameras work. It might be difficult for you to understand. If you don't understand read it all over again and again.

         1. Aperture
Aperture is how big your camera's lens is open to allow light to enter the camera sensor and. the effect of aperture is depth of field(the distance that your photos is in focus). aperture is measured by f/number or f stop the smaller number the larger of the hole also the larger aperture is also the smaller depth of field too.

      2. Shutter Speed
Shutter Speed is how long your sensor capturing light. if you need to capture fast moving objects you have to have use fast shutter speed as well. If you shoot in low light you have to use slower shutter speed to capture enough light.

       3. ISO
ISO is how much your sensor sensitive to light. Sometime you have to shoot in low light and need a fast shutter speed you have to bump up your ISO. ISO will help you to get more light but you will get more noise as well. More expensive camera is better noise performance too.

          4. How These Things work
Firstly light enter the camera through the lens, some light might have blocked by the aperture. Then camera release the shutter and taken all the light that came through the lens. ISO start determine how to fill up the pixels that have no light entered by the amount that photographer has already set or automatically set my camera auto function.
Finally a photo taken by the camera is an combination of Aperture,  Shutter Speed and ISO. This is just the beginning you have more thing to learn like white balance, composition, type of photography etc. stay tuned my page for more photography lesson and travelling experiences,

Introduction To Photography

Photography is an combination of Art and Science, which require you to master of both. You might get confused at first that you learning about photography because of things that you never know.

Photography Art: is how your photo will look like. With art of photography you have to learn thing how to framing your shot, composition, photography rule etc. This part is easy to learn but it's difficult to archive it. If you are an creatively person you would learn it very fast.

Photography Science: it is your camera works and all the things about camera, ISO, Shutter Speed, Aperture etc. you might get confused when you learning about science in photography. After you understand of all that things work, you don't need to worry anymore. The best way to learn is to practice.

For learning photography you don't need an expensive camera just a point and shoot camera is enough to learn the framing and composition and other rule of photography.

Kompong Phluk The Natural Lake Resort

About 30 kilometers from Siem Reap City, Kompong Phluk is a natural lake resort in Tonle Sap Lake. There is a few activities to do there like seeing the lake itself, see how people live, boat rowing in the lake forest, and walking through the lake forest. It's also the first place that I visited with foreigner. And now I'm about to tell  you my story.

This is a local people's houses built much higher than the land to ensure that their houses will be stay above the water level in the rainy season. Photo by me.

I left Siem Reap City at 9:00am then i have to wait for my foreigner friends near Bakong temple. We continued our trip direct to Kompong Phluk. About 1 hours later we arrived the lake we took a boat to take us to middle of the lake. on the way to the main lake you can see local people's lifestyle, boats, house children etc. When you arrived your destination you can see how people find their food and their business. and the views of the lake.

Most of people there feed their life with fishing, boat renting and made salty dried fish for selling at the market. They rather choose a boat than a car.
After we seeing the great lake that can provide fish for half of the country population, we were going to having a lunch at the restaurant. Beside providing food and beverage, this restaurant also provide boat rowing service. Unfortunately, we went on the dry season so there is no water in the forest and make us unable to do that. Evening we can not do the boat rowing, we can walk along the wooden walkway created by the restaurant after the lunch. Big trees, fresh air, bird singing and the big shade from the trees, we not really want to come back to the town .

This is the Wooden walkway that allows us to see the forest take photos and enjoy our trip.

This forest will filled with water at the rainy season by half height of the tree make you able to row a boat along trees.

I really really want to visit Kompong Phluk again because I missed the boat rowing. I saw my friend's photos aout boat rowing and it look really interesting. Now I'm planning to visit again soon...Bye!!
